Opportunities for Growth
The art and science of radiologic technology combines advanced technology with human compassion. While it is one of the youngest of the allied health fields, the profession has expanded tremendously in demand, educational advancement, new techniques and subspecialties.
Registered radiographers perform the dual role of providing quality care to the patient and ensuring efficient production of diagnostic radiographs. Using their knowledge of physics and human anatomy, radiographers perform radiographic procedures in surgery, portables and trauma cases, as well as routine procedures such as chest, skeletal, and contrast studies in the radiology department. This profession requires good communication skills and a dependable personality with a mature and caring nature.
Employment opportunities are available in hospitals, clinics, physician’s offices, and public health, government, industry and education facilities. Radiographers may specialize in a specific area or pursue careers as educators, researchers, consultants, or administrators. Salaries vary nationwide, however, the range typically reflects the level of training, education and experience of the individual.
