Meet Haley; Jeffrey, he has bronchitis; Jacob, he has cold symptoms and fever;  and Josh, he also has a cold and is running a fever.

Angela Bachmann, Nurse Assistant

They all woke up this morning with a case of the ickies. Their symptoms range from sore throats to runny noses, nothing life threatening but just enough to keep them out of school or daycare. Just enough to throw off mom's busy work schedule.

"It's a peace of mind. It lets me come to work when I'm scheduled and I know she's in good hands," one mother said.

So when staying home is not an option, she turns to Bergan Mercy's Under the Weather Center.

"We record their temperatures and we administer medication if they need Tylenol for their fevers and set up just basically like a regular daycare. They can play and watch movies," said Angela Bachmann.

Nursing assistant Angela Bachmann takes care of the kids ages 8 weeks to 12 years. She's on 24-7 and help is just around the corner.

"The pediatric nurses are right down the hallway, so if she gets a kid who has a fever that's spiking a little bit and doesn't respond to their Tylenol she gives a call to one of the staff and they're coming down and checking the child out," said Claudia Schmidt, O.D. Pediatrics.

Under the Weather is open to the public but not open to all sick kids. If they have the measles, pink eye, hepatitis A or RSV,  to name a few, they need to stay home. That brings up another question: How do you keep your kids from coming home with something worse?

"Good hand washing is the key to everything. We clean toys religiously. I have never had a parent complain," said Claudia Schmidt.

For 4 dollars an hour, you provide the snacks, they provide the care.

They can't replace mom and dad, but parents will tell you, the under the weather program is a good substitute.
