Your Pharmacist can Help With Over-the-Counter Remedies
 |
Carol Berger, pharmacist with the Alegent Health Pharmacy in Bellevue.
Alegent Health pharmacist Carol Berger can tell you a lot about over-the-counter remedies. For example, if you feel a cold coming on, try taking some zinc. The taste may be a little bitter, but between that, vitamin C and echinacea, your cold symptoms could be lessened and the length of your cold shortened. |
And then there's that cough. Try a good-tasting cough
syrup that lasts 12 hours, and when you feel the tingling that signals a cold
sore coming on, check out special remedies for that too.
For the pain and stiffness of arthritis, a combination of glucosamine and chondroitin in pill form can help ease the symptoms.
However, Berger warns, "these remedies are meant for the short-term, and if you don't begin to feel better soon, you need to see your physician."
She adds, "be sure to ask your pharmacist any questions you have about these remedies. That's what we're here for."
