Rooms

  • Five private Labor and Delivery rooms, each with whirlpool bath. Each room features wood floors, comfortable furnishings for guests. State-of-the-art fetal monitoring system tracks baby's progress.
  • Eight post-partum rooms, with whirlpool bath or shower. Large windows provide natural lighting. Comfortable furniture pulls out to beds to accommodate overnight guests. TV and Internet access is also available in every room.
  • C-section suite specially equipped for surgery allows mothers to stay on maternity unit.

  • Cable TV in every room
  • Internet access in all patient rooms
  • Educational videos on demand on various infant and childcare topics
  • Movies on demand
  • Dining on-call - patients can request meals whenever they are ready to eat between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Snack area for maternity patients and family members
  • Nursery with viewing area from the lobby

Staff

  • Highly experienced nursing staff, with an average of 10 years experience in OB nursing. All nurses have received special training in stabilizing and caring for infants in special needs circumstances (such as premature birth).
  • Medical staff includes obstetricians/gynecologists, neonatologists, family practice physicians and pediatricians.

Technology and Security

  • Fetal monitoring system
  • A state-of-the-art security system monitors the location of baby at all times. Controlled visitor access to the unit ensures a secure environment for infants.

Classes and support groups for expecting and new parents:

  • Prepared Childbirth Education Classes- To help ease the anxiety of expectant mothers and fathers, classes with comprehensive information on what to expect during labor and delivery, and how to participate in the process, are offered year-round.
  • Breastfeeding class - Answers questions about a baby's nutritional needs and prepares soon-to-be mothers for breastfeeding.
  • Full Lactation Services - In addition to support already provided by trained nursing staff, Lakeside Hospital also provides a certified lactation consultant who will be available to help new mothers with information on breastfeeding and infant nutrition, on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
  • New moms support group - This group gathers weekly at Lakeside Hospital for education, friendship and support
  • "Newborn Channel" educational videos on demand in post-partum rooms, including "Baby Bath," "Breast-feeding," "Car Seat Safety," and many others.
