Staffing

• Total number of staff: 415

• Types of jobs at Lakeside include nurses, allied health employees, security, building services, administration, food services and other service support positions.

• Of the positions filled at Lakeside Hospital, 34.4 percent were filled by Alegent Health employees, who transferred from another hospital. The remaining 65.6 percent were hired externally.

Culture

• All Lakeside Hospital employees took part in eight hours of Planetree training, which is a philosophy of care centered around healing the body, mind and spirit of each person through a patient-focused healthcare approach.

• A patient-centered environment is achieved by creating a soothing atmosphere in which to heal. Compassionate staff, homelike furnishings, warm colors, easy way-finding, innovative therapies, such as pet therapy, aromatherapy and massage therapy, and elements of nature are brought into the hospital setting to create an environment that is conducive to healing.

• Lakeside Hospital will be the first Alegent Health hospital to open entirely as a Planetree designated affiliate.

• All Lakeside employees attended an eight hour Culture Day which focuses on common behaviors that are expected and needed to achieve a higher standard of care.

Orientation and Training

• Depending on the type of position being filled, staff received between two and 12 weeks of orientation and training prior to the opening of Lakeside Hospital.

• Employees participated in intense training on patient safety and quality of care standards according to the requirements set forth by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

• Employees were educated on the multiple new technologies at Lakeside Hospital, including Soarian clinical access, computer documentation systems, the electronic medical record, clinical documentation, medication management and document imaging.

• Employees participated in educational seminars on change management, conflict resolution, teamwork and communication.
