Alegent Health Memorial Hospital has been providing healthcare to the residents of Colfax County since its founding in 1954. It has 15 Critical access hospital beds, six bassinets and 34 long-term care beds. The Alegent Health Schuyler Clinic was built in 1995, and lies adjacent to the hospital. The Schuyler Clinic also operates a satellite rural health clinic in the community of Howells, Nebraska.  In 1998, the hospital opened the Heun Living Center, a multi purpose living addition for extended care residents.
