MD.2 FAQ'S
Your medications can be critical to your
health. MD.2 delivers solid oral medications and reminder messages
automatically. It also monitors missed doses and its flexible design accomodates
a variety of schedules with up to 4 weeks of medication securely preloaded in a
locked cabinet.
What is MD.2 Personal Dispensing System?
MD.2 Personal Medication System is an
easy-to-use, medication management device for patients with medication
compliance issues. This fully integrated system simplifies medication
organization and delivery, reminds patients to dispense and take their
medications on schedule, and monitors compliance. MD.2 only dispenses solid oral
medications, however, it will give verbal and text reminders for non-oral
medications or specific medication directions (i.e. "time for your inhaler" or
"take with food").
Who should use MD.2?
MD.2 is designed to fill the "gap" between
little or no medication assistance and full time management. MD.2 is ideal for
patients that have known or suspected medication compliance issues such as
forgetfulness, or taking too much, too little, the wrong or wrong day's
medications. It is ideal for patients suffering from mild to moderate dementia
(Alzheimers, psychiatric conditions) or dexterity issues (tremors, severe
arthritis) as well as patients with complicated medications schedules (CHF).
How will MD.2 help patients and their caregivers?
MD.2 is most effective with patients who
want to take their medication but due to loss of mental and/ or physical
faculties, struggle to maintain daily compliance.
For family members and caregivers, MD.2
delivers peace of mind. The reminder, security and monitoring features assure
caregivers their loved ones are reminded daily to take their medication safely
and securely.
Is MD.2 easy to use?
Absolutely. Advanced, one button design,
multiple audible, visual and text reminders, and easy-to-open medication
dispensing cups (even with arthritis) makes MD.2 easy to use and operate.
Who installs and maintains MD.2?
MD.2 is designed to be easy to install and
maintain. If the patient is currently receiving help with their medications, IMD
recommends that the current caregiver (be it the agency nurse or a family
member) installs and maintains MD.2. Once installed, some patients may be able
to manage and maintain the unit.
How many days of medications will MD.2 hold?
It depends on how many dosing periods per
day the patient needs. MD.2 can dispense up to 6 dosing periods per day and hold
a total of 60 medication cups. Most people take their medications 2 to 3
times per day. In these cases, MD.2 would hold three to four weeks (20-30 days)
of medication.
What if the power goes out?
MD. 2 comes with a battery backup that will
provide alternative power for 12 to 18 hours.
