Effective March 1st, 2008 all submissions, with the exception of Expedited reviews, must be submitted electronically through eIRB. The Alegent Health Institutional Review Board (IRB ) is a diverse group of individuals designated to review, approve and monitor research that involves human participants. The primary purpose of this IRB is to assure, in advance and by periodic review, that appropriate measures are taken to safeguard the rights, safety and well-being of human participants involved in a clinical trial conducted by Alegent Health physicians, staff, students, and others at Alegent Health, off-site and outreach clinics, or affiliated institutions.

The policies and procedures that govern the Alegent Health IRB are based on the federal regulations published by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
