Faithful to our religious heritage and sponsorship (Catholic Health Initiatives and Immanuel Health Systems), Alegent Health embraces the provision of healthcare that serves the body, mind and spirit of each person. Our Mission Statement is the foundation of all that we do. It serves as our guide and unites us as an organization as it brings our beliefs to life.
Alegent Health Mission Statement
Faithful to the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, our mission is to provide high quality care for the body, mind and spirit of every person. Our commitment to healing calls us to:
- create caring and compassionate environments
- respect the dignity of every person
- care for the resources entrusted to us as responsible stewards
- collaborate with others to improve the health of our communities
- attend especially to the needs of those who are poor and disadvantaged
- act with integrity in all endeavors
To achieve this mission, we pledge to be creative, visionary leaders committed to holistic healthcare in the region. Formed on January 1, 1996, Alegent Health is sponsored by Catholic Health Initiatives and Immanuel Health Systems and is founded on the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy, Regional Community of Omaha and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Nebraska Synod. As the Alegent Health Mission is lived out within the care provided in each of our hospitals, the staff of the Mission Services Division is available for direct care, support, and education.
At Alegent Health, the art and science of medicine converges with the power of hope and miracles to create an environment where healing is the organization's spirit. That is why we have adopted the Planetree philosophy to healing.
Spiritual care is available at all of our metro area hospitals through our Mission Integration Division. Direct spiritual care, ministry education and clinical pastoral education are all services provided. Ethics consultants are also availible through our Ethics Center. Below are our mission-directed services:
Mission Integration
Mission Integration provides resources that help people celebrate new life, live life to the fullest, find meaning in illness and complete life's journey with dignity and inspiration.
We embrace the knowledge that spiritual well-being is an integral part of healing. We recognize the necessity for understanding:
- the definition of spiritual health
- how spiritual disease affects physical well-being
- how spiritual well-being affects physical health
- how churches and healthcare providers collaborate in offering opportunities for the physical and spiritual health of people
Mission Integration has a Web page that provides two messages of comfort and inspiration which change monthly. For more information about Mission Integration, please contact us.
