In the "Back to Golf SM" Performance Program, available at the Alegent Health Lakeside Physical Therapy Clinic, golfers with injuries are evaluated by a certified physical therapist on their golf swing and its impact on the muscles and spine as well as the mechanics of the swing. However, the program is open to golf enthusiasts of all levels who want to improve their game while maintaining good health and strong bones.

The Institute functions as a "hospital within a hospital" – a place where orthopaedic services are backed up by a full service hospital. This means that if problems arise during treatment, such as a heart or breathing problem during surgery, the patient has the support of physicians, surgeons and caregivers in a variety of specialties. Leaders in sports medicine, physicians from the Orthopaedic Institute can be found on the sidelines at high school football games. They work with school athletic directors at no cost in customizing special educational sessions for athletic trainers and coaches.

This fall, the physicians of the Orthopaedic Institute plan to offer a Saturday morning sports medicine clinic at Lakeside Hospital to evaluate the injuries suffered by high school athletes during Friday night games.

Sports medicine at Lakeside Hospital also includes fitness training, sports physicals, physical therapy and rehabilitation, and outpatient surgical services.
