Reading books to children is one of the nicest, most inexpensive gifts adults can give them.  Since children identify strongly with storybook characters, adults can positively influence a child's self-concept through careful book selection.

This purposeful action can help children recognize and deal with the way they feel, think, and act. Additionally, it can help children understand family and peer interactions. Finally, with careful selection, it can assist children in coping with difficult life situations, such as divorce and death.

Since there are so many wonderful children's books to choose from, we thought it important to narrow down the list and recommend some of our favorites.  Check back from time to time, we'll add different topics and book recommendations.
