What are the Alegent Health Diversity Awards?
Alegent Health's Vision is to create and maintain an internal environment which understands values and proactively supports diversity in its system, structure, attitudes and behaviors. In supporting the distinct and appreciable differences amongst individuals, the Alegent Health Diversity Department has established an annual diversity award.
This award is presented by the Alegent Health Diversity Department in support of our Mission, to advance diversity within our health system and our community. The award will represent the efforts and achievements of an individual or non-profit organization/agency that had helped cultivate an environment in the community in which diversity is valued.
Criteria
Nominations will be accepted for individuals or non-profit organizations/agencies that have made a significant commitment/contribution to enhance diversity within an organization or community.
A letter of nomination must be submitted that addresses how the nominee has demonstrated a significant commitment to enhancing diversity through one or more of the following actions:
- Description of accomplishments, leadership and service in support of diversity enhancement
- Dedication and commitment to advocating and protecting civil and human rights
- Led the development of contemporary measures to fight discrimination and prejudice, and the effects of past discrimination
- Fostered positive communication and actively promoted inter-group relations among persons of different races, ages, ethnic origin, gender, religious, backgrounds or physical and mental abilities.
- Description of achievement in creating an inclusive and supportive environment
- Description of achievement in recruiting and retaining diverse groups
Award Details
There will be two community recipients, each receiving a plaque and a $500 honorarium at the Alegent Health Diversity Awards and Scholarship Banquet on July 17, 2009.

Nominations must include the following:
- A completed nomination form (PDF)
- Nomination Letter
All information must be submitted by April 24, 2009
Letters to recipients of the Award will be sent out no later than June 30, 2009.
