Patients FIRST Survey

While many hospitals collect information on patient satisfaction, there hasn't been a national standard for collecting or publicly reporting this information that would enable valid comparisons to be made across all hospitals. That is why Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services worked with experts in patient satisfaction to create the Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Systems (H-CAHPS) hospital survey.
To
prepare for the H-CAHPS, Alegent Health has developed
the Patients FIRST survey, which includes two components, Patient
Expectations and Patient Engagement. The first measures Alegent
Health patients' perspectives on how well we meet their expectations
of care. Alegent Health included the H-CAHPS questions as
part of the Patient Expectations component to measure and
report inpatients' perspectives on hospital care. These are the
results.
