| As a new parent, you're faced with
many important decisions, like finding the right doctor for
your child. At Alegent Health Clinic, our physicians are qualified
to care for your child from birth through adulthood. When
it comes time to choose one, here's how to make a choice between
specialties: |
Family medicine physicians are qualified to care for patients
of all ages, so your child would be able to see the same doctor
from birth through adulthood. Family medicine residents train
in pediatrics and several other areas including internal medicine,
orthopaedics and obstetrics and gynecology. Because family physicians
can see patients of any age, your entire family can receive care
from the same physician. That means your doctor will know the
medical histories of all family members and may also be aware
of the emotional and social issues within your family that can
affect your child's health.
At Alegent Health Clinic, some of our physicians
specialize in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, which means they can care
for your child from birth all the way through adulthood. The pediatric
specialization allows physicians to focus on the physical and emotional
well-being of children, with a focus on preventive health, from birth
through adolescence. As your child grows, our physicians begin focusing on
prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect adults. They
are trained to handle chronic illnesses and situations where several
different illnesses may strike at the same time. When a physician has
board certifications in internal medicine and pediatrics, he or she has
been trained in both specialties. That means he or she can care for your
child - and the rest of your family - no matter their age.
