Do all pre-requisites have to be completed by the application deadline of March 1?

No, but if you are accepted, they must be completed by the program start date in late August.

Is this program available part-time, at night, or on-line?

No. The accreditation agency only allows for a continuous 23-month program. While some pre-requisites may be completed part-time or on-line, the Clinical Education component of the program requires continuous attendance during the day.

How and when can I sign up for classes?

Applying to the program is a process. The application with application fee must be received by March 1 each year with all transcripts/references and other required information received by April 1. Applicants must take the entrance exam (Health Occupation Basic Entrance Test) given in March each year. Acceptance is based on a point system. The more courses taken and the higher the GPA, points will increase. Points are given for references, entrance exam, pre-requisites and other applicable college courses, work experiences, autobiography, etc. Applicants will be invited for a personal interview after meeting the minimum number of points. Interviews occur in April each year. The class is generally accepted by the first week in May with program start in late August.

How many students are accepted each year?

We accept 12-14 students a year. We do not hold applications over to the next year. Each year begins a new applicant pool.

What are class and clinical education times?

Students are in academic classes 2 days a week – 7:30 am to 3 pm. Clinical Education is 3 days a week – 7 am to 3:30 pm.

Can I work a full-time job while going to School?

Probably not. School attendance is scheduled for a 40-hour week. Almost all students do work a part-time job.

When can I apply for financial aid?

The School is accredited for Stafford loans and Pell grants. Students can apply for financial aid as soon as they are accepted. Financial aid applications can be made any time during the program.

Do students ever attend Clinical Education on B shifts (Noon-8 pm), late shifts (11 pm-7 am) or on weekends?

Students begin weekends after January 1 of the first year. Students only complete two weekends and two weeks of B shift of Clinical Education each three-month clinical rotation. Schedules are ready several weeks before each rotation. Students attend Clinical Education on late shifts only as a voluntary option.

Do students ever give injections?

Students will learn venipuncture, but will not perform it or inject any medications or contrast media as a student in the program. Venipuncture is allowed only after becoming a RT.

What is a barium enema?

A barium enema is an examination of the large bowel by inserting a tube into the rectum and introducing barium (a contrast medium) into the colon. Radiographs are taken of the area for diagnosis of any pathology or disease process.

Do students have Clinical Education in the different areas of Radiology such as CT/MRI, Ultrasound, Special Procedures, Radiation Therapy, etc?

Students will rotate through the various Radiation modalities as a second-year student. Students will have an opportunity to visit with program directors of these modalities during class times.
